Arsenal are not looking to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans despite the speculation in recent weeks.
The Belgium international has been constantly linked with the Gunners. It has been reported that he has already agreed personal terms.
Despite this, the north London giants have yet to make an approach for him, and it is now claimed that he is not the priority midfield target.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Gunners are working behind the scenes to sign a top-class central midfielder.
Tielemans and Amadou Onana have been linked of late, but Tavolieri has emphasised that the Gunners are not keen on signing either player.
Technical director Edu Gaspar has been in secret negotiations with potential targets. Arsenal recently signed Fabio Vieira out of the blue.
They are likely to make another surprise signing. It could possibly be Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who is available for around £56 million.
According to Il Messaggero, Arsenal recently failed with an opening bid of around £46 million for the experienced Lazio midfielder.
