Chelsea are interested in signing long-term target Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, according to Italian outlet La Repubblica.
The Blues have been linked with the Senegal star since 2016, but they have not come close to landing him from Napoli.
However, they have been handed an opportunity this summer, considering his current deal expires in less than 12 months.
Napoli are willing to sell him for around £34 million, and it is claimed that Chelsea are one of the clubs vying for his services.
The Blues are currently in advanced negotiations to sign centre-back Nathan Ake from Manchester City for around £45m.
They could still be eyeing another centre-back, and Koulibaly could be a tempting option for the west London giants.
Chelsea recently lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers. This has forced them to look for replacements.
Juventus' Matthijs de Ligt has also been linked with them, but the Dutch star appears to favour a move to Bayern Munich.
