Eduardo grabs Croatia brace

Eduardo grabs Croatia brace

08 September 2007 - 22:03

Croatian striker Eduardo da Silva grabbed both the goals as Croatia defeated Estonia 2-0. The game was a very one-sided affair, and the Arsenal striker was impressive throughout.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • A foul on the Brazilian-born player led to a sixth-minute penalty but Darijo Srna's effort hit the post.

Croatia piled on the pressure and had to wait until the 39th minute to break through when Eduardo scored with an overhead kick.

Eduardo then latched on to a fine pass from Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Luka Modric six minutes later to add his second goal with a superb long-range shot.

'Everything is still open in our group. We are a Formula One racer and have kept a few seconds of advantage but we have to be cautious to avoid fatal errors,' said Croatia coach Slaven Bilic.

Croatia top Group E with 20 points from eight matches, ahead of Russia (18) and England (17).

Bilic's team play Andorra on Wednesday.
