Chelsea have been asked to pay €80 million to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol this summer, according to The Athletic.
The Blues recently landed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, and he is expected to provide much-needed reinforcement in central defence.
However, manager Thomas Tuchel is eyeing two more central defenders, and it has been claimed that Gvardiol is under consideration.
Earlier this summer, Leipzig were quite clear that the Croatian was not for sale, and it could take an exorbitant price to convince them.
The Athletic now claims that a package of around €80 million could test their resolve. It remains to be seen whether the Blues pay that.
Chelsea have been guilty of spending staggering sums on players in recent years, and they have been smart with their business this summer.
Raheem Sterling and Koulibaly were signed for a combined €94 million fee, and we don't see them paying over the odds to land Gvardiol.
The London giants have also been linked with Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, but he appears determined to join Barcelona over them.
