Liverpool manager provides Firmino update

30 July 2022 - 08:15

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided a fresh update regarding the status of forward Roberto Firmino. Expected to play as a substitute this campaign, Firmino had been reportedly told that he could leave the club if a suitable offer is received.

  • With Juventus constantly linked with a transfer for the Brazilian forward, Liverpool manager Klopp has moved to distance reports of a Firmino departure, insisting the player will stay put.

Having already lost Divock Origi on a free transfer, the Anfield giants want to keep the former Hoffenheim forward for as long as possible.

“Bobby is crucial for us,\" said Klopp

“Bobby is [the] heart and soul of this team. The way we played in the last few years was only possible because of Bobby.

“That’s why I’m really happy he could train the majority of the time here in the pre-season so far and everything looks really good.

“I am absolutely fine and, for me, there’s no doubt about his quality. All the rest, we will see how this year goes, but yes, he is essential for us.”
