Chelsea will need to pay between £80-85m to sign Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana this summer.
The Blues have already signed a new central defender in Kalidou Koulibaly, but they are eyeing more reinforcements in the position.
After failing with bids for Jules Kounde and Matthijs de Ligt, they are now focused on landing Fofana, but he will cost a hefty price.
The Frenchman only signed a new deal in March this year, and the Foxes are reluctant to lose him during the ongoing transfer window.
If they were to consider his departure, it is claimed that it will cost between £80-85m, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.
Fofana spent most of the previous campaign on the sidelines with a leg break, but still impressed in the final weeks for the Foxes.
He is a superb all-round defender with no weaknesses, and could be a world class player in the Premier League in years to come.
Fofana has already agreed personal terms with the Blues.
