Timo Werner rejected Manchester United transfer

12 August 2022 - 20:46

Former Chelsea striker Timo Werner reportedly snubbed a move to Manchester United for RB Leipzig this summer.

  • Arsenal linked with new shotstopper as backup to Raya
  • Juventus and Roma to battle for 20yo Arsenal star

  • The Germany international had a difficult second season with the Blues, making just 17 goal contributions in all competitions.

He made his return to Leipzig at the beginning of this week, but it is now reported that United made a late attempt to hijack the deal.

According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils made an 11th hour bid for Werner, but he had no plans of changing his stance.

United have been poor in their summer rebuild. They have made just three signings in Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez so far.

The hierarchy have now entered a desperation phase in the transfer window, and they seem to be looking at random transfer targets.

Aside from Werner, they were recently interested in a shock move for Bologna's Marko Arnautovic, but decided to pull out of discussions.

Bologna's asking price was too steep for them while there were also fan protests as the Austrian allegedly made racist remarks in the past.
