Antonio Rudiger slams Chelsea for Thomas Tuchel decision

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has slammed Chelsea following their decision to part ways with manager Thomas Tuchel.

  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The German tactician was hugely successful with the Blues, winning three trophies including the Champions League in 2021.

Despite this, the new owners decided to dismiss him following the club's shock 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Speaking to Sport1, Rudiger expressed his surprise over the decision as the Blues backed Tuchel during the summer transfer window.

He added that his former manager did the impossible by winning the Champions League, and was unimpressed by the decision.

He said: "First, he was allowed to bring in new players, only to be released after a few games. I was surprised at the speed."

"The day of his release was a sad one for me. I wrote to him afterwards and thanked him again for everything.

"He was there for everyone, not just me. If you look at where we came from and where he took us, he did the impossible.

"But you know how it is in football. Sometimes you're the hero, sometimes the bogeyman."

Tuchel recently said that he was devastated by his sacking, but it may not be long before he makes his managerial comeback.

Bayern Munich could view him as a serious candidate to replace Julian Nagelsmann if their league form does not improve soon.
