Man Utd defender wants new long-term contract

Dalot eyeing new Man Utd deal

Man Utd defender wants new long-term contract

17 October 2022 - 16:21

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot is reportedly keen on signing a new long-term contract with the club.

  • Man Utd handed major injury boost for Liverpool game
  • Chelsea set asking price for Nicolas Jackson
  • The Portuguese has been ever-present for the Red Devils this campaign, making 13 appearances in all competitions.

He is quite clearly the first-choice right-back and United must ensure that they commit him to a new long-term contract.

Barcelona and AC Milan are among clubs interested in him, but it appears Dalot is determined to continue with United.

The club's hierarchy have yet to open talks over a renewal, but the 23-year-old is optimistic that negotiations will begin soon.

Dalot's current deal with the Red Devils expires in the summer of 2023, but the hierarchy have the option to extend for 12 months.

That clause is expected to be activated before the New Year such that Dalot can't negotiate personal terms with any foreign club.

Dalot is currently one of the lowest paid players at £25,000-a-week and his wages could be quadrupled if he pens an extension.
