Paul Pogba ruled out of World Cup this winter

31 October 2022 - 21:07

Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup with France, according to his agent.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Frenchman joined Juventus on a free transfer earlier this summer following the expiry of his contract at Old Trafford.

However, he has since been struggling with a knee injury. He recently made a comeback to training but has suffered another recurrence.

Pogba's agent and lawyer Rafaela Pimenta has now confirmed that the midfielder won't be available for France at the World Cup.

She said: "Following yesterday and today's medical review in Torino and Pittsburgh, it is extremely painful to inform Paul will still need recovery time from his surgery."

"For this reason, Paul will not be able to join the Juventus squad before the World Cup break nor the French National Team in Qatar."

Pogba and N'Golo Kante were instrumental to France's World Cup glory back in the summer of 2018, but both are currently nursing injuries.

In their absence, Adrien Rabiot has a big part to play in the centre of the park alongside youngsters Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Rabiot refused to join the 2018 squad as a stand-by player, but the 27-year-old now has to take responsibility as a senior member of the team.
