Chelsea defender to miss World Cup with hamstring injury

Chilwell suffers long-term hamstring injury

Chelsea defender to miss World Cup with hamstring injury

05 November 2022 - 20:22

Chelsea have confirmed that Ben Chilwell is ruled out for the World Cup after suffering a significant hamstring injury against Dinamo Zagreb.

  • Chelsea eyeing surprise move for former Arsenal striker
  • Chelsea & Man Utd want to sign Belgian winger

  • The England international picked up the injury during the closing stages of the game and he is now out for the long-term.

In a statement released today, the Blues confirmed that the left-back won\'t be involved in this winter\'s World Cup finals.

\"Following the injury sustained in our recent game against Dinamo Zagreb, Ben has undergone a scan on his hamstring.\"

\"Results show that Ben has suffered a significant injury and the defender is unfortunately expected to miss the World Cup.\"

The news will come as a big blow for the Blues, considering Chilwell has been their most consistent option from left wing-back.

Marc Cucurella has also played there since his arrival from Brighton & Hove Albion, but he has lacked the consistency.

His position has been poor over the past few games. He has a big challenge on his hands when he faces Arsenal tomorrow.
