Chelsea are pushing to sign Real Madrid target Josko Gvardiol during the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.
The Blues were interested in landing the Croatian star last summer, but RB Leipzig made it clear that they did not want to sell him.
However, the club have not given up in the pursuit and they are now prepared to make a renewed approach at the beginning of 2023.
The Blues are determined to beat Madrid to the 20-year-old star and are willing to meet Leipzig's demands of £45m plus add-ons.
Gvardiol has yet to make any decision over his future, but the Blues are already in talks with his representatives to convince him.
Their season has been pretty poor in the Premier League, but the club are still hopeful of luring him with an ambitious future project.
The Blues have a good relationship with Leipzig and they have already sealed a deal to sign Christopher Nkunku at the end of the season.
