Liverpool are unlikely to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves during the January transfer window.
The Merseyside giants have had a poor Premier League season and they are currently 10 points behind the top four.
The Reds need a huge shift in the back end of the campaign and it was recently claimed that they could sign Neves.
However, according to talkSPORT's Alex Crook, a transfer is unlikely this month after the big spending on Cody Gakpo.
Jurgen Klopp's side spent around £37 million to land Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven and they are now out of funds.
The hierarchy are unwilling to spend more at the halfway stage and no more deals are expected for the rest of the window.
Neves has been a key player for Wolves over several seasons, but he is likely to leave them at some point of time this year.
He has no plans of penning a new deal and will enter the last year of his contract in July. Wolves value him at £35m.
