Ferguson feels for Rangers

Ferguson feels for Rangers

10 May 2008 - 00:34

Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson feels sorry for Rangers ahead of their tough looking UEFA Cup Final with Zenit St. Petersburg; and the Scotsman believes that the SPL Fixture run-in could cost them European glory.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • "The obvious deterrent to Rangers winning this game is the number of fixtures they have had," Ferguson told STV's Scotland Today.

"They have not been helped by the Scottish football league.

"It is a typical British (attitude), don't help you, whereas St Petersburg cancel all their games. So that's fantastic preparation.

"They have got Saturday and then the cup final the following Wednesday.

"Then they have a Saturday lunchtime kick-off, then a Monday game, a Thursday game and then a Saturday game. It's absolutely ridiculous."
