Manchester United are reportedly planning talks to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio this summer.
The Red Devils are currently contemplating the sale of Harry Maguire amid his inconsistent performances this term.
This could pave the way for a new signing and Record report that the club are weighing up an approach for Inacio.
United have monitored the youngster on several occasions and they are now preparing a formal move for his services.
Inacio currently has a release clause worth €40 million in his deal but United could attempt to negotiate different terms .
They could be prepared to pay a higher fee for the centre-back, provided Sporting agree over a long-term payment deal.
Inacio has also been linked with Newcastle United recently, but he has no plans of joining the Magpies in the summer transfer window.
The Tyneside outfit are on course to secure Champions League football, but Inacio has the desire to join a top European outfit instead.
