Rob Holding leaves Arsenal for Crystal Palace

Rob Holding has agreed terms on a three-year contract at Crystal Palace, and will leave Arsenal after seven seasons and close to 100 Premier League appearances. Holding had been told that he was free to leave the Emirates Stadium and is somewhat of a coup for Palace, who have been looking to add defensive cover to their squad.

  • Holding leaves Arsenal as one of the club's longest serving players, having arrived from Bolton in 2016 for £2 million.

Roy Hodgson's club will pay £4.5 million for Holding, with a further £1.5 million in bonuses and add-ons. Arsenal fans have given Holding plenty of criticism in recent seasons, after the defender had to step in after key injuries to first-team players.

However, Holding will now have a fresh start at Selhurst Park and will be asked to perform as understudy to Marc Guehi at the Eagles.

It is understood that Holding will earn double his current salary at the Emirates Stadium, and also had an option to move to the United States after an MLS side expressed last minute interest in signing the central defender.
