Tierney: I have no problem with Arsenal

01 September 2023 - 18:28

Real Sociedad agreed a loan deal to sign Kieran Tierney from Arsenal this week, and the Scotsman has revealed that he decided to leave the Emirates in search of regular first-team football. The former Celtic defender had been linked with a return to his previous club, but instead opted for a new experience in Spain.

  • Mikel Arteta had, in recent times, not given Tierney the opportunity to play and recent signings of Jurrien Timber had indicated that the player's time at the Emirates was drawing to a close.

Tierney himself wanted to set the record straight, and told reporters that he had no issue with the Gunners: "I left because last season I couldn’t play a lot and what I wanted was to play a lot of games and I wanted to try to do it at Real Sociedad. I don’t have any problem with Arsenal. Knowing that Real Sociedad wanted to have me here, feeling all the love from the people here was very good."

"Being in the Basque Country, having the experience of living here and playing in La Liga, is something I am very proud of. I hope things will go very well for me here."
