Burnley rejected the opportunity to sign Manchester United loanee Sergio Reguilon during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils signed Reguilon on loan from Tottenham before the transfer deadline after injuries to left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
It has now been revealed that the Clarets were offered the opportunity to sign the Spaniard in a similar kind of deal last month.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Burnley's chief operating officer Matt Williams said that a deal did not materialise due to the terms.
He said: "Luke Shaw goes down injured and they take a player [Reguilon] from Tottenham who we had been offered three or four days earlier. It was a business decision that we did not sign him – salaries, loan fees etc."
Reguilon was an unused substitute against Arsenal before the international break, but he played 85 minutes versus Brighton today.
The Spaniard was one of United's best performers in the game, but the club slumped to a disappointing 3-1 loss at Old Trafford.
