Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has admitted that he is suffering and hurting after losing his number one role to David Raya.
The England international was the Gunners' undisputed choice for the Premier League games for two years before losing his spot to Raya.
Raya replaced him between the sticks against Everton last month and since then, Ramsdale has made just one appearance in the League Cup.
Speaking to Mirror, Ramsdale has now admitted that him and Raya push each other in training, but he is obviously suffering and hurting for not playing.
He said: "We work professionally really well together. We push each other in training and there’s days where I come in and I’m down because of the situation and he picks me up."
"And for whatever reason there might be a day where he’s down and even though I’m suffering and hurting for not playing I have to stand up and be able to push him."
Arsenal have made a fantastic start to the Premier League campaign and they are currently on 20 points after eight games into the season.
The club are trailing Tottenham Hotspur for the top spot on goals scored and they have the chance to leapfrog them in the coming gameweek.
They face arch-rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend. It is most likely that Raya will continue in goal for Mikel Arteta's side.
