Ancelotti reflects on bad season

Ancelotti reflects on bad season

18 May 2008 - 17:34

After AC Milan were pipped to the post by Fiorentina; who secured fourth spot in Serie A on Sunday afternoon and Champions League qualification for next year; Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti found some time to reflect on a poor display this season.

  • Chelsea manager on Reece James before Man Utd game
  • Chelsea want to sign Bournemouth midfielder
  • Ancelotti is now having to prepare for the UEFA Cup and was clearly disappointed after missing out on the Champions League.

Even more worrying for Ancelotti is the fact that Jose Mourinho has again been tipped to take the position of Ancelotti next year.

"We have to look at the table and accept it leaves us out of the Champions League," said the coach.

"We must analyse our mistakes. It was a season of peaks and troughs, though we paid a particularly heavy price for our poor home record in the first half of the campaign. We didn’t do enough.

"We’ll have a year in purgatory, but will face it with the same enthusiasm as always, concentrating our energy on Serie A to become more competitive."
