Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is the dream target for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The London giants are expected to sign a marquee centre-forward this summer as they look to challenge Manchester City for the league title.
They have been linked with the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, but Isak is the prime transfer target for the Gunners boss.
However, a deal is unlikely to materialise with the Magpies having no plans to part ways with the Sweden international before next season.
The Tyneside outfit need to balance their books this summer and they could do so with the big-money sale of midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
Guimaraes currently has a release clause worth £100m in his contract, and it has been claimed that Manchester City are lining up a move.
Hence, Arsenal appear unlikely to pursue the signature of Isak and they may have to explore alternative options in the transfer market.
