Liverpool have almost agreed a 40 million euro transfer package with Valencia for the signing of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, and the Georgia international will fly to England for talks on Monday. A medical will follow shortly thereafter.
The move has surprised many observers, particularly as Alisson has been so loyal to Liverpool and remains the first choice goalkeeper. Interest from Saudi Arabia in signing Brazil international Alisson has yet to come to an agreement, and it appears that 6 foot 6 Mamardashvili will play as a backup to the Brazil keeper for now.
Mamardashvili moved to Valencia from Dinamo Tbilisi in 2021, and appeared more than 100 times for The Che, and has 21 caps for his country to his name.
After a hugely impressive Euro 2024 tournament, the goalkeeper has been monitored by several of Europe's top flight teams, but Liverpool have seemingly won the race.
The next steps for the Georgian are to wrap up a medical, agree personal terms and an announcement will be circulated on Wednesday morning announcing Arne Slot's biggest transfer signing yet.
