Manchester United have been linked with a shock move for Aston Villa defender Pau Torres, according to Fichajes.
The Red Devils have had a poor start to the Premier League season and they have been guilty of making defensive errors.
The club signed Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro to bolster their central defence, but the latter is currently out injured.
United were also keen on landing a left-footed centre-back in the summer and reports claim that they could prioritise the same next year.
Torres has reportedly emerged as a top target for the Red Devils and it is claimed that he could be prised away for £42 million.
Villa have emerged as serious candidate in the top four race over the past year and we would be surprised if they are ready to sell.
However, their decision could be forced by PSR spending limits. They were forced to offload Moussa Diaby and Douglaz Luiz for that reason.
