Kirkland signs new Wigan deal

21 May 2008 - 22:51

Wigan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has signed a new contract with his club. The keeper has signed a deal until 2012, and should shun the interest of several Premiership sides who were keen on the England international.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • "I knew Chris was a good keeper before I joined but until I had worked with him, I didn't realise just how good he actually is," said manager Steve Bruce.

"Him signing this new deal is a massive boost for the club."

Kirkland was reportedly a target for both Aston Villa and West Ham.
