Manchester United's hierarchy are discussing internally about the future of manager Erik ten Hag, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils have had a dreadful start to the campaign. They are currently 14th in the Premier League with only eight points on the board.
Their performances have not been good in Europe either. The club played out draws against Twente and Porto before the international break.
As a result, Ten Hag's future at the club is uncertain and Romano has said that discussions are ongoing internally over the Dutchman's position.
There are no immediate plans to dismiss him from the helm, but the board's stance could change depending on the discussions this week.
United don't face Brentford at Old Trafford until October 19. The hierarchy have time on their hands to make a change before the game.
Assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is a strong candidate to become the caretaker boss if United need time to recruit Ten Hag's successor.
