Gyokeres to PL next summer?

Arsenal & Chelsea handed big boost in signing Gyokeres

06 November 2024 - 21:10

Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a big boost in signing Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres next summer, according to The Times.

  • Chelsea urged to sign Man City star on free transfer
  • Chelsea squad want Xabi Alonso as manager
  • The Sweden international has been sensational up front for Sporting and he has already netted 63 goals from 66 appearances for them.

This includes 23 from 17 games in the ongoing campaign and The Times claim that he has a gentleman's agreement to leave next summer.

There is a release clause worth €100m in his current deal, but Sporting are prepared to sanction his departure for around €75m-€85m.

The news is a huge boost for Arsenal and Chelsea, who are expected to spend big on a new marksman at the end of the season.

Arsenal were indeed interested in Gyokeres last summer, but they were reluctant to pay the release clause in one single payment.

With Sporting prepared to negotiate, the Gunners could make a fresh approach for the 26-year-old in the next summer transfer window.

They are bound to face competition from the Blues, who are also eyeing a marquee number nine after failing to land Victor Osimhen.
