The Telegraph now clarify that the left-back's concern is not serious and he is expected to return to team training on Monday.
The news is a huge boost for the club, considering they are without Lisandro Martinez due to a serious knee injury.
United manager Ruben Amorim prefers a left-footed centre-back in his back three. Shaw could feature in the coming months.
Martinez's injury could also pave the way for Ayden Heaven to make his debut. He joined from Arsenal earlier this month.
