Arsenal crush Tottenham

Arsenal crush Tottenham

15 September 2007 - 14:50

Arsenal continued their remarkable run as they have now not been beaten by North London rivals Tottenham since 1999. Arsenal grabbed an incredible 3-1 victory over Tottenham thanks to goals from Fabregas and two from Adebayor.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Tottenham took an early lead thanks to an excellently worked free-kick from summer signing Gareth Bale in the 15th minute.

Abou Diaby and Adebayor both spurned glorious opportunities to give Arsenal the victory early on, Diaby missing from 10 yards and Adebayor firing over the bar when he took an excellent pass from Cesc Fabregas.

Arsenal came out a completely different side in the second half, and finally got the equaliser they deserved in the 65th minute, Adebayor rose highest to head home Cesc Fabregas' free-kick past Paul Robinson.

Then with 10 minutes left, the little Spaniard stepped up for his 5th goal of the season to smash the ball into the back of the net and send the travelling Arsenal support into raptures.

As Tottenham pushed for an equaliser, Arsenal counter attacked and Arsenal grabbed their third. Tottenham just cannot seem to handle Adebayor, and he grabbed his second and Arsenal's third.

Arsene Wenger will be delighted with his side's performance who will now spend the evening on top of the Premiership after Liverpool drew with Portsmouth.
