Chelsea have made their final transfer decision on re-signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, according to Teamtalk.
The Blues have had a central defensive injury crisis during the early part of the campaign. They were without Tosin Adarabioyo and Levi Colwill due to injuries against Liverpool while Trevoh Chalobah (suspension) and Wesley Fofana (concussion) were absent too.
Benoit Badiashile and Josh Acheampong started for the west London giants on Saturday, but both were substituted in the second half with minor injuries. The Blues were left with Jorrel Hato as the only fit centre-back.
A number of those injured are likely to return in the coming weeks, but this has not stopped the speculation linking the Blues with centre-backs.
Chelsea did not pursue a deal for Guehi last summer despite having the first refusal clause, and they have no plans of making a move in January.
Guehi will enter the last six months of his Palace contract this winter and the Eagles could be tempted to sell him for a cut-price transfer fee.
