Manchester United could sell Kobbie Mainoo to Chelsea next summer to fund a move for a new midfielder.
The England international has fallen out-of-favour under manager Ruben Amorim and has yet to start in the Premier League this campaign.
He has been linked with a switch to Napoli for some period of time, but reports claim that Mainoo could be on his way to the Blues instead.
Football Insider cite that the Red Devils have their sights on landing Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace at the end of the ongoing campaign.
It may coincide with a big-money exit, and Mainoo seems likely to head for the exit door. He has been touted to make the move to Chelsea.
The Blues are no strangers to doing business with United. They only signed Alejandro Garnacho from the Red Devils in the last transfer window.
The west London giants have been closely monitoring Mainoo's situation at Old Trafford, and could make a serious approach in the summer.
