Chelsea are seeking a managerial replacement for Enzo Maresca and have turned their attentions to Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe with a view to a permanent deal to be arranged in the summer. Liam Rosenior is expected to take charge next week at Stamford Bridge, but a long-term successor to Maresca is the club's top priority.
Eddie Howe ended Newcastle's long wait for silverware last season, helping his team to the Carabao Cup, but this season so far has been a little disappointing and the departure of Alexander Isak has disrupted progress at the Toon Army.
Chelsea recently fired Enzo Maresca after disagreements between the club's board and the Italian manager, and Maresca is potentially being lined up by Manchester City as the replacement for Pep Guardiola once the Spaniard decides to leave the Etihad Stadium.
Howe has also been earmarked as a potential England manager once Thomas Tuchel departs from his current position, but the former Bournemouth boss would prefer to stay in club football at the current time.
