Premier League legend Gary Lineker has urged Arsenal to purchase Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez during the ongoing transfer window.
The Gunners recently suffered a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. Gabriel Jesus and Viktor Gyokeres shared the duties upfront, but neither found the back of the net.
Speaking in his podcast after the game, Lineker said that the Gunners need more firepower upfront and must make a move for Alvarez this winter rather than waiting for the summer transfer window.
Alvarez has netted 11 goals and provided five assists for Atletico this campaign, but he is reportedly unsettled at the Spanish outfit and could be open to securing a return to the Premier League.
Atletico could be prepared to accept a package of more than £87 million for his services, but it is unclear whether the Gunners can afford to land his services from the La Liga giants in the coming days.
Arsenal made a huge outlay of more than £250 million on signings last summer, and they may wait until the summer to pursue more recruits.
