Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that a late decision will be made over the fitness of Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber ahead of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Sporting CP at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners duo have been sidelined for the last few matches and were sorely missed during the 2-1 Premier League loss to Bournemouth last weekend.
The pair were not spotted in the open training session earlier today, and when pressed on their availability, Arteta said they will undergo late fitness tests tomorrow morning.
Saka has been nursing an Achilles issue for some time. He would be a guaranteed starter on the right wing if he were deemed fully fit for the clash.
Similarly, Timber is a nailed-on starter at right-back ahead of Ben White when fit. Arsenal have missed his strong defensive presence in the backline lately.
Arsenal have a 1-0 lead over Sporting CP after the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final. Kai Havertz scored a late stoppage-time winner.
