Manchester United are reportedly keen on landing the signature of Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller ahead of Juventus this summer.
The Red Devils are prepared to part ways with Casemiro and have already confirmed that he will depart at the expiry of his contract.
A marquee replacement has to be signed in due course and the club are now lining up an approach for Stiller, who has stood out in the Bundesliga.
Stiller has a release clause of 36 million euros in his contract, but Stuttgart can increase the option to 50 million euros by paying a penalty fee of around 2 million euros to the player.
Juventus are keen on landing the 25-year-old prior to the World Cup but United are prepared to provide strong competiton in the player's pursuit.
United are planning to land more than one defensive midfielder this summer to fill the void to be left by Casemiro when the season ends.
They are also exploring a deal for Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni.
