Manchester United are eyeing a summer move for Sporting CP left-back Maxi Araujo, according to Portuguese outlet Record.
The Red Devils are aiming to add more quality in the left-back department, given they have largely depended on Luke Shaw.
Shaw managed to stay fit throughout the Premier League season, but his fitness could be put to the rest with more matches.
United are back in the Champions League next season, and they could potentially play 60 games or more in 2026/27.
Hence, United want a proper competitor in their ranks and reports claim that they could pursue a deal for Araujo from Sporting CP.
They have sent scouts to monitor the Uruguayan closely at the World Cup despite him operating from a different position.
Araujo is generally a left-back at club level, but he has operated as a left winger for the South American heavyweights.
The 26-year-old has been a revelation for Uruguay thus far, scoring a couple of goals and providing an assist as well.
