Manchester United could seriously consider parting ways with manager Michael Carrick if the Red Devils fail to beat Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.
United recently ended a nine-match winless streak with a 3-2 comeback win over Roma in the Champions League. Matheus Cunha was the star of the show with two goals and a penalty won, which was converted by Bruno Fernandes after a retake.
Despite the victory, the pressure is still on Carrick. United have dropped to 18th in the league standings on the back of Nottingham Forest's 3-1 win over Manchester City at home.
They must return to winning ways in the league to move out of the drop zone, and that could be a difficult task against a solid Villa outfit.
Carrick faces another stern challenge against the Midlands outfit and reports claim that a loss could well see him heading for an exit.
The international break would provide United with ample time to land a successor if they decide to part ways with Carrick in the near future.
