Reigning Italian champions Italy have signed the England international midfielder Frank Lampard from Chelsea for 9 million euros.

  • The esteemed France Football magazine reports that the Italian powerhouse signed the former West Ham United star on a four year contract worth 7.3 million euros a year. The amount paid to Chelsea as transfer fee is supposed to be 9 million euros.

The move was on the cards for quite a number of weeks. Inter Milan appointed Jose Mourinho as their new coach earlier this month and it is apparent that Mourinho did convince Lampard to leave Stamford Bridge and join Inter Milan.

The departure of Lampard to Inter implies that new Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has already lost one of key players. The Brazilian is now expected to convince Deco to join Chelsea from FC Barcelona this summer.
