Chelsea appeal Obi red

24 September 2007 - 16:37

Chelsea are set to appeal John Obi Mikel's red card he picked up against Man Utd on Sunday in the 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford. Avram Grant has launched an immediate appeal against the decision that Petr Cech felt may have cost Chelsea the game.

  • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
  • A club spokesman told a news conference after the game an appeal for wrongful dismissal was already under way.

Referee Mike Dean dismissed Mikel for a foul on Patrice Evra after 32 minutes.

"We were playing well until Mikel was sent off and the game changed. It seemed the wrong decision," said new Blues manager Avram Grant.
