Injury crisis at Arsenal

03 November 2008 - 12:21

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted that Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor suffered a "bad injury" and could be serious doubt for the next couple of games.

  • The striker was replaced by Carlos Vela in the 73rd minute during the 2-1 Stoke City defeat.

The French couch did however not reveal the severity of the injuries on the forward or his team mate Theo Walcott but implied that the duo could be out of action for a while.

"We have very bad injuries to Adebayor and Walcott, and there is (Bacary) Sagna," Wenger said.

"One or two have knocks as well. It is the kind of game we played today and when you are a little bit short on sharpness, you are less agile and get out of tackles less quickly."

To add insult to the injuries Dutch forward Robin van Perise is ruled out of the clash against Manchester United after seeing red for his challenge on Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.
