Kroenke could support Arsenal

Kroenke could support Arsenal

26 September 2007 - 19:38

Amongst the battle for shareholdings at Arsenal is US tycoon Stanley Kroenke, who happens to have a very large stake in Arsenal. Before the threat of takeover from Alisher Usmanov, there were worries that Kroenke could too mount a takeover bid. However, it is now believed that Kroenke will display a show of support for the Arsenal board.

  • Kroenke will be in attendance for Arsenal's board of directors on October the 18th and Arsenal's directors are working on building a stronger relationship with Kroenke.

Arsenal's managing director, Keith Edelman, said on Monday that he still does not know what Kroenke's intentions are, the fact that he is now considering such a high-profile appearance at the annual meeting is a clear sign of his backing. Sources said it showed that rather than launch a takeover he was prepared to bide his time as a long-term investor.
