Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is apparently ready to make an 8 million GBP offer for Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour. The central midfield playmaker is one of the best talents in the Jupiler League over the last two years.

Several Italian sides are admirers of the Belgium international, but it seems that Liverpool are in pole position in their efforts to lure the playmaker away from Standard Liege.



It is understood that Juventus are also ready to make a move for the player, but Benitez sees Defour as the ideal addition to his midfield to partner with Steven Gerrard and Javier Mascherano.
