The Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson completes his £2m switch to premiership side Wigan Athletic.

  • Wigan secured the signature of the "goal scoring midfielder", Ben Watson, for a fee of £2m. Watson was on the verge of a move to Middlesbrough last week.



    The Wigan boss, Steve Bruce, said : "Ben has the maturity to be in the highest level and make a good impression. We have been watching him for sometime and wer are impressed by his goal scoring skills."



    Bruce indicated that he wanted a replacement for Wilson Palacios who was sold to Spurs for £14m and Ben Watson is a perfect fit. "He is got quick feet, plenty of power and always give hundred percent in the field."



    Ben Watson is happy to be back in the Premier League. He said : "I thank everyone at Palace, the fans have been supportive and have been great to me, but this is a great opportunity for me to play in the top level again. The big pull here is Steve Bruce though."



    Sure, he does seem to be happy to back in the Premier League and playing for a "flying club".
