Manchester City has officially signed Shay Given from Newcastle United for a four and half year deal worth £6m.

  • Chelsea ready to battle Man City for £75m PL star

  • The Irish keeper Shay Given has agreed to personal terms with Manchestery City today and has joined the club right before the transfer deadline. Mark Hughes' spending now goes over £50m, and hope Man City can finally sort their problems and get some solid strength at the back.

The Newcastle United's long serving keeper could be a great asset to the Man City squad who boast the presence of Robinho and Nigel de Jong. Many football pundits had remarked about City's inconsistency at the back and a lack of "back bone" and leadership. Shay Given could give them all these, and I should say this is a great signing!

Meanwhile, Newcastle United boss had made some good fortune selling Given and he look forward to do sell Charles N'Zogbia to Wigan before the window closes today.

The Toons are set to sign Ryan Taylor and Sami Hyypia if Kinnear could strike the deal before the deadline passes.
