Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has reserved special praise for Serbian striker Nikola Zigic after his inspired performance helped the Blues to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
Although Zigic hasn't set the Premiership alight with goals galore, the tall striker has been hugely influential in the progression of Birmingham this year.
McLeish said of the forward: âToday thatâs as good as Iâve seen him. In terms of being unplayable we have been working hard with the big fellow to get into that kind of mode.
âIâve felt like that about Peter Crouch for a long time, sometimes he can be unplayable but it didnât come overnight for big Peter and itâs not overnight for Zigic, him coming into the English game at quite a late stage of his career, heâs 29 now, but the winning goal against Villa plus the performance when he came on in the second half [today] will increase his confidence.â
