Brown & O'Shea join Sunderland
Sunderland have completed the signing of defensive duo Wes Brown and John O'Shea from Man Utd. The defensive duo have joined in a reported 9m GBP deal and have both signed 5 year contracts.
The two players were long serving members of Alex Ferguson's successful Man Utd sides of the last decade; but both have decide to leave and sample pastures new.
Ferguson said of the departure of John O'Shea: âJohn has been an outstanding servant to the club since he broke into the first team almost a decade ago.
âHis versatility, calmness under pressure and his commitment to the cause at United means that fans will remember him with great affection.
âJohn has won so many medals â and has deserved every one of them. He epitomises our clubâs approach as a team. Iâm pleased that John has found a career opportunity which will deliver the number of games he deserves."
Meanwhile, Wes Brown said: âOnce Iâd heard about the club and the people here, the ambitions and what the manager was all about, it was the only place I was going. Itâs hard to leave a club like United.
âItâs a bit strange that itâs my first move after all these years, but itâs gone OK, maybe because Iâm a little bit older, so Iâve not had problems in that sense.â
Wes Brown helped Man Utd to two Champions League trophies in his time at Old Trafford.
