James McFadden on Aston Villa radar

Aston Villa have hinted that James McFadden is an option for them this summer, the Scottish international has a close relationship with Villa boss Alex McLeish and is ready to join the Villains this week.

At the end of last season, James McFadden was not offered a new contract at Birmingham who were relegated to the Championship, and subsequently he was released and has been looking for a new club.

Aston Villa look set to win the race for the player who had been linked with a move to Rangers and QPR.

McFadden will be offered a £60,000 per week contract at Villa.
