Spurs defender hints at Modric stay
Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has insisted that Luka Modric will stay at the club. Chelsea were believed to be chasing Modric as part of a 40m GBP deal.
Assou-Ekotto said: âIt is good for the team but more important if he stays he has to stay and be happy.
âIf he stays and he is not happy there is no point to keep one player who is not happy in the team.
âWe are happy if he stays and I hope he will be happy for the rest of the season. When I asked him if he was happy he said âYeah, if I move it is good, if I donât move I am not at a bad clubâ.
âHe understands the chairman as he wants to have a good team so he has to keep his player.â
