Steve Bruce gunning for a new striker

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has admitted that his first priority is to find a new striker. Sunderland have so far been linked with a move for Peter Crouch.

The Sunderland boss said: "We struggled in front of goal and that’s an area we need to look at. We are looking to see if we can do something and have one or two irons in the fire. Let’s see what develops.”

Peter Crouch is set to leave Tottenham, with Stoke City a potential destination for the England forward.

However, a late offer from Sunderland could tempt the striker for a move to the Tyne.
