Everton miss out on full Arteta payment

Everton have missed out on the full transfer fee received from Arsenal for the transfer of Mikel Arteta, as Real Sociedad took a slice of the fee.

According to reports, Everton included a 10 percent sell out clause for Real Sociedad when they first signed the Spaniard.

Arsenal paid around 10m GBP for Arteta; this means at least 1m GBP of the transfer fee was immediately transferred to Real Sociedad.
