Chelsea to make Cheick Tiote offer

Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote is top of Andre Villas-Boas' shortlist for a January transfer move, according to the Sunday Mirror. The report suggests that Tiote would be allowed to leave for 20m GBP.

Chelsea are planning for a long term future under Villas-Boas, and the signings of Oriol Romeu and Romelu Lukaku indicates more of a long term plan, with Frank Lampard and John Terry set to retire in the next few seasons.


Tiote, a former FC Twente midfielder, has been inspirational at the heart of Newcastle's midfielder this year, pairing with Frenchman Cabaye and helping Newcastle to 3rd in the Premier League.
